Train Your Dog to Stop Boxer Chasing
If your Boxer loves to chase everything that moves, he must be trained to stop Boxer chasing. You must be his Alpha Dog. Be his boss. Make sure he knows what’s expected from him and what you want him to do. Your Boxer shouldn’t tell you what to do. You are the one in charge. If you don’t want your Boxer chasing things, he’ll stop chasing if the leader of his pack (you) wants him to stop Boxer chasing.
It’s faster to train your Boxer wearing his leash and collar. You both know that he can’t run away or get too out of control while he’s leashed. If he tries to run off, one tug on his leash and he’ll realize you’re in charge and that you don’t want him Boxer chasing everything in sight.
Your Boxer’s focus should always be centered on you. Never start moving until he’s looking at you when taking him for a walk. Assert your dominance. Be his Alpa Dog – the leader of his pack.
If your dog likes to pull on his leash and won’t focus on you, it’ll be harder to retrain German shepherd chasing things. If he looks like he is about to chase something, tell him to “sit”. Let him know who is boss. Make him wait for you to start walking before he’s allowed to get up and walk with you. German shepherds are quick learners. After a few pulls, he’ll associate pulling on his leash with stopping.
Another way to stop Boxer chasing is to have a friend pass by on a bicycle while you’re walking your Boxer on a leash.
If your Boxer chases the bicycle, tell your friend to stop, firmly tell your Boxer “no” and spray him with a water bottle. This teaches him not to stop Boxer chasing. He’ll quickly know that you don’t apporve and will not do it any more. This method sometimes doesn’t work because some Boxers get mad at being sprayed with the water bottle. Others like getting sprayed and consider it a game.
